Alfa Romeo unveils sportier Tonale with striking front-end redesign
The Alfa Romeo Tonale is getting a facelift, with most changes focused on the front end to give it an even sportier appearance.
The three-dimensional badge draws inspiration from the classic 33 Stradale and GT 2000, while the new air intakes and centrally positioned license plate echo the Junior, and the openings at the edges of the bumper reference the iconic Giulia GTA and GTAm, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
With a shorter front overhang thanks to the new bumper and wider tracks due to the new 19" and 20" wheels, the Tonale’s proportions appear even more dynamic, and the wheels also give the updated model a distinct profile.
The sporty seats feature 8-way electric adjustments for both driver and passenger, electric lumbar support, heating, and ventilation, while the steering wheel is also heated.
In the central console, the rotary gear selector combines ergonomics with modern design, though gear changes can still be made using the beautiful aluminum paddles fixed to the steering column.
The new Tonale remains a true Alfa Romeo, offering excellent driving behavior thanks to perfect weight distribution, independent suspension with MacPherson struts on all wheels (regardless of engine version), Brembo four-piston brakes, and the fastest steering in its class.
The updated Tonale will be available with three engines. Two hybrid options comply with Euro 6E bis standards: the 175-hp Ibrida and the 270-hp Ibrida Plug-In Q4. The Tonale Ibrida uses a 1.5-liter VGT turbo gasoline hybrid engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Ibrida Plug-In Q4 features a 1.3-liter engine driving the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while an electric motor powers the rear wheels, providing all-wheel drive and pure electric driving capability. For those who frequently cover long distances on open roads, there is also a diesel option with 130 hp and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
In terms of safety, the Tonale has been awarded 5 stars by the independent EuroNCAP organization. In Greece, the first deliveries of the new Tonale are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
