The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in an urgent session at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Trade, approved amendments to the decision on implementing immediate price control measures by setting maximum price levels for certain products. The amendments extend the validity of the decision until December 31 of this year, CE Report quotes FENA.

According to the Federal Ministry of Trade, the current economic situation and rising prices of basic food and hygiene products continue to significantly affect the living standards of the population, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

The decision applies to 65 products, with butter removed from the previous list due to increased and unstable procurement costs.

The purpose of the measure is to ensure the availability of essential products at affordable prices for all citizens, especially in light of inflation, which stood at 4.2 percent in June and 4.5 percent in July.

The Federal Ministry of Trade stated that extending the measure aims to maintain a balance between consumer protection and market freedom, allowing consumers access to a basic basket of goods at reasonable prices while leaving room for competition and product variety for traders and producers.
