
Greece Posts €4.5B Budget Surplus in H1 2025
Greece’s state budget recorded a primary surplus of €4.5 billion in the first half of 2025, a significant jump from just €77 million in the same period last year, the Bank of Greece reported on Wednesday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
This improvement was driven by higher revenues, which rose to €32.55 billion from €30 billion in H1 2024. Expenditures also increased to €31.6 billion, up from €29.1 billion.
As a result, the central government’s cash deficit fell to €465 million, compared to €1.6 billion last year. The regular budget showed a surplus of €1.75 billion, reversing a €2.2 billion deficit from the previous year.
