The realization of projects will be supported by top experts from the United Kingdom who will ensure a high-quality and timely realization of the projects, while also elevating the quality of construction companies in Macedonia and bringing new knowledge and experiences in the country, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski told national broadcaster MRT in an interview, CE Report quotes MIA.

Nikoloski said the country’s efforts to construct a high-speed railway would be supported by technical assistance from a British company that built “the most sophisticated, digitized metro in London”.

“On every visit to London I speak a lot about technical assistance, that is something that is very significant, something that means experience and knowledge, and for me this is equally important as the financial component. Regarding the railway, we discussed receiving technical assistance from ‘Crossrail’. This is the company that built the newest and longest line in London, the first digitized metro line in this part of the world – the Elizabeth line,” Nikoloski said.

The Deputy PM said the country lacks well-educated staff with experience.

“Unfortunately, due to years or decades of devastation, the construction sector in Macedonia has almost collapsed, many companies are going bankrupt, and I hope that with this we will move them to a new phase where they will once again be internationally competitive as they were at some point in the past. That is why this aspect of sharing knowledge is very important,” Nikoloski said.
