Bulgaria Stabilizes Regional Grid
Bulgaria has demonstrated its role as a regional energy security guarantor, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov announced at a briefing following recent power outages in neighboring countries, CE Report quotes BTA
“In the early hours of Sunday, the regional grid faced serious challenges due to high voltage levels caused by low consumption and excess reactive power,” Stankov said. Bulgaria, which holds 90% of the region’s reactive power compensation capacity, managed to stabilize its own system and assist neighboring countries.
He confirmed that North Macedonia experienced partial outages, and Bulgaria is actively helping to restore their grid. “Our system remains stable thanks to strong generating and compensating capacities,” he added.
