Moldova Expands Power Exports
Starting May 1, the electricity export capacity from the joint Moldova–Ukraine grid to the European ENTSO-E network has increased from 550 MW to 650 MW. According to Moldelectrica, this expansion will enhance exports to Romania and other EU countries, reinforcing Moldova’s role as a regional energy supplier, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The cross-border transfer capacity at the Moldova–Romania border rose from 82 MW to 97 MW, further supporting electricity trade with EU states.
With lower domestic demand due to warmer weather and higher output from renewable sources like solar and hydro, Moldova traditionally sees rising exports in spring. This increase allows Moldovan green energy producers better access to competitive European markets.
