The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, through the Industrial Property Agency, marked World Intellectual Property Day.

The acting Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, said that the government has understood the importance of intellectual property, therefore it has transformed it into a concrete public policy, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to her, through trademarks, they have advanced in protecting intellectual property, while mentioning that 741 cases of trademark violations have been resolved over the years.

She emphasized that intellectual property is important in the century of technology and the industrial revolution.

In this regard, he said that intellectual property is a pillar of Kosovo's economic and cultural development.

On the other hand, the representative of Kosovo Customs, Driton Azemi, said that in 2024 there were 148 requests for customs action in the field of intellectual property.

He also said that last year they confiscated over 272 thousand items of counterfeit goods with a total value of 12.5 million euros.

"Kosovo Customs has taken on its responsibilities and role from the beginning in order to protect intellectual property rights and has performed all its duties. Here I would like to highlight that during 2024 alone, we have reviewed 148 requests for customs action in the field of intellectual property rights, including 601 requests related to trademarks and 40 requests for copyright. As a result of this commitment and thanks to close coordination with all other relevant stakeholders, during 2024, Kosovo Customs has initiated 805 cases for the verification of goods suspected of violating intellectual property. It has managed to confiscate over 272 thousand items which, after verification, were found to be counterfeit goods with a total value of 12.5 million euros," he emphasized.

In addition, within the framework of marking World Intellectual Property Day, there was also a discussion on "Music and Intellectual Property: Creativity, Institutions and Legal Protection".
