Macedonia's exports to the United Kingdom stand at about EUR 2.5 billion and we want this number to rise and exceed the EUR 3 billion mark very soon, said Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski after a meeting with UK Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports, Gareth Thomas, in London on Wednesday, CE Report quotes MIA.

"We discussed infrastructure projects, railways, motorways, airlines and other avenues for UK support to Macedonia," said Deputy PM Nikoloski and added that UK is the country's second-largest trade partner.

He said the London visit is a new step in the cooperation with the UK, "positioning Macedonia as a strategic partner in Southeast Europe".

On Thursday, Minister Nikoloski is scheduled to meet with representatives of the business community in London, Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty, and UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce.

The visit aims to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the two countries, economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on infrastructure investments.
