Bulgaria’s Patent Office Launches Online Similarity Tool

Business

The Patent Office of Bulgaria has announced that its Similarity Tool for assessing the similarity of goods and services is now available online, CE Report quotes BTA

Since the formation of the EU Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN) in 2011, Intellectual Property Offices (IPOs) across the EU have worked together to harmonize trademark and design practices. As part of this effort, the IPOs have agreed on a new document outlining common principles for comparing goods and services. It addresses unclear terminology, legal criteria, and provides examples for better understanding.

The public release of this document aims to enhance transparency, legal certainty, and predictability for both examiners and users. This initiative is part of a joint effort between BTA and the Patent Office of Bulgaria, including the Created in Bulgaria segment, which showcases Bulgarian innovators and the Patent Office’s work.
