Greek Minister Highlights Agriculture as National Priority at Agrothessaly Expo

Rural Development and Food Minister Kostas Tsiaras emphasized the critical importance of the agricultural sector during the inauguration of the 14th Agrothessaly expo on Friday. Calling it a "national issue," he stressed the government's commitment to keeping the primary sector strong and enhancing its contribution to the economy, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Tsiaras reaffirmed that government policy is focused on agricultural development, aiming to boost the competitiveness of Greek products and establish the sector as a key pillar of economic policy. He also highlighted discussions on the EU’s post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which will prioritize sector resilience, youth participation in farming, and support for rural areas.

The minister underscored the vital role of agricultural production in maintaining social cohesion and ensuring food sufficiency, reinforcing the need for strategic measures to strengthen the sector.
