Talent Retention Key to Future Economy, Says Bulgarian Minister

Innovation and Growth Minister Tomislav Donchev emphasized the importance of talent retention in the economy of the future at the Explore US 2025 Conference in Sofia. The event, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, focused on trade and investment opportunities in the U.S, CE Report quotes BTA

Donchev stated that tariffs, production, and resource access are becoming less relevant, while the ability to attract and nurture talent is crucial. He highlighted the shared responsibility between Bulgaria and the U.S. in fostering talent, noting that global change happens daily rather than over decades.

He urged against competition over talent migration, acknowledging that while Europe remains an attractive destination, talent retention depends on living conditions. Donchev also stressed that in today’s world, knowing your competitor is just as important as knowing your partner.
