Vazrazhdane Floor Leader Kostadin Kostadinov declared in Parliament on Wednesday that his party will not stand idly by as Bulgaria's national currency and economic stability are undermined. "We promised on the first day this majority was formed that we would not allow Bulgaria to enter the euro area illegally," he emphasized, CE Report quotes BTA

Kostadinov claimed that the government, immediately after taking office, began accelerating efforts to abolish the Bulgarian lev and the currency board, prioritizing eurozone entry over addressing the country's pressing issues. He criticized the government for neglecting the political crisis, economic challenges, and inflation, instead focusing on forcing Bulgaria into the euro area.

The declaration also pointed to an impending crisis in the eurozone itself. Kostadinov argued that Bulgaria's monetary system, proven to be resilient and effective, should not be dismantled. He accused the government of acting out of "theft and servility" by pushing for this transition.
