Court Reviews Radev's Claim

Bulgaria

Bulgaria’s Constitutional Court has agreed to consider part of President Rumen Radev’s challenge against National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova’s decision to dismiss his proposal for a national referendum on adopting the euro in 2026, CE Report quotes BTA

The court will examine whether the Chair of the National Assembly has the constitutional authority to rule on the admissibility of such proposals. However, it unanimously rejected other parts of Radev’s claim, including requests to declare Kiselova’s decision unconstitutional and to interpret broader constitutional principles related to referendums.
