Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Opposes Lukov March, Calls for Prevention

Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has reiterated its opposition to the planned Lukov March and urged authorities to take all legal measures to prevent it this year, CE Report quotes BTA

The torchlit procession, held annually in February since 2003, commemorates General Hristo Lukov, a military leader known for his ties to the Third Reich and leadership of the far-right Union of Bulgarian National Legions.

"Bulgaria, especially its capital, must not be a platform for extremism, intolerance, discrimination, and hatred," the Ministry stated, emphasizing that such events contradict the country's values and distract from its positive progress.

As part of a broader institutional effort, the Ministry pledged to counter any attempts to sow division or harm Bulgaria’s international reputation.
