Montenegro promotes sustainable tourism investment opportunities in Azerbaijan

Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić participated in the second International Investment Forum in Azerbaijan, which brought together around 3,000 participants from 40 countries, including representatives of governments and international institutions, leading global investors, financial institutions and business leaders.

Speaking about Montenegro’s investment potential, Kordić stressed that Montenegro is a destination that can offer international investors precisely what is most important in today’s conditions — stability, predictability and transparency, alongside the state’s clear commitment to high-quality and long-term sustainable investments, CE Report informs via the Montenegrin government website.

“The results are already visible. Montenegro is now home to leading international hotel brands, including One&Only, Aman, Regent, Hilton, Hyatt, The Chedi, Swissôtel, Mövenpick... Their presence is important to us not only because of the additional accommodation capacity they provide. These brands bring international management standards, expertise, access to global markets and, particularly importantly, additional confidence in Montenegro as a safe and promising investment destination,” Kordić said.

She also pointed to Montenegro’s increasingly important role at the multilateral level, noting that the country chairs the Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization, which provides further confirmation of its international visibility and active role in shaping tourism development policies.

Tourism, Montenegro’s largest economic sector, is recording strong growth, while the country’s investment potential is increasingly expanding beyond the traditionally most attractive coastal areas. Kordić particularly highlighted northern Montenegro, which recorded record tourism results this year and represents an area with significant potential for new, high-quality and sustainable investments.

During her visit to Baku, Kordić met with Mir Jamal Pashayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pasha Holding, as well as Emin Agalarov, founder and owner of Sea Breeze Resort.

The meetings focused on current and future investment projects, with the interlocutors particularly highlighting the perception of Montenegro among Azerbaijani citizens as a safe tourist destination.

Montenegro’s participation in the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum represents an additional opportunity to position the country on the international investment map, promote specific investment opportunities and establish partnerships that could contribute to the development of high-quality, sustainable and year-round tourism.
