Albania's Durrës expands public beach areas

The expansion of public spaces on the beaches of Durrës (Albania) has increased the responsibilities of local institutions for ensuring the smooth running of the tourist season.

Since June 15, the "Clean Beaches" operation has been launched, through which the National Coastal Agency supports eight coastal municipalities in cleaning the beaches, including Durrës, CE Report quotes ATA.

Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama shared images from the public beach in Durrës, which is being frequented by large numbers of citizens during these summer days.

Currently, Durrës has 266 public beach parcels, stretching from the main beach area in the city to the Agai Stream. This number is expected to increase after June 30, when contracts with private entities expire. Parcels that receive no applications by that date will automatically become public spaces.

Given Durrës’s long coastline, public beaches this year have been planned to alternate with private ones, allowing visitors access to various segments of the shore.

Additionally, the Municipality has equipped all these public areas with appropriate signage on site.
