New summer routes launched from Skopje to Türkiye
Turkish low-cost carrier AJet has launched seasonal flights connecting Skopje to Ankara, Çukurova, and Diyarbakir in Türkiye, Skopje International Airport operator TAV Macedonia said in a press release Monday, CE Report quotes MIA.
The seasonal flights from Skopje to Ankara and Diyarbakir will operate once a week, while AJet flights to Çukurova Airport will operate twice-weekly. All three routes are available from June 1 until the end of September.
“The direct connection of Skopje International Airport with the three new destinations in Turkey is of great importance in many aspects, because each area brings its own benefits. The connection of the two capitals, Skopje and Ankara, will contribute to increased trade exchange, fast business logistics between Macedonia and Turkiye, easy access to the Turkish market, business mobility, tourist and cultural exchange, educational and academic cooperation, connecting communities, and will also contribute to further improvement of political and diplomatic relations,” said Nejat Kurt, General Manager of TAV Macedonia.
The establishment of the connection between Skopje and Çukurova and Diyarbakir will bring significant strategic, economic, tourist and cultural benefits to the country, TAV Macedonia officials said.
“Çukurova is a large agricultural area with fertile land that includes Adana, an industrial and agricultural center, and Mersin, a touristic destination on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. What is also significant is that there is a large population in Macedonia originating from these two areas, which will facilitate communication and maintaining family ties,” the airport operator said in its press release.
With the three new lines, AJet will fly to a total of 4 destinations from the Skopje International Airport, including the already existing route to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
