The number of tourists choosing to visit the city of Berat (Albania) is steadily increasing. They express amazement at the nature and the cultural heritage sites of this city.

In a social media post, Albanian Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, shared the opinions of two tourists, Sabina and Sindra, who were fascinated by the heritage of the "Onufri" Museum and the centuries-old icons that narrate Albanian history. Sabina and Sindra are two Swedish tourists from Stockholm who visited Berat for several days, CE Report quotes ATA.

“It was wonderful to see the religious icons up close, such original works. We recommend everyone to visit Berat and the Museum,” says Sindra in the video posted on social media.

The collection of the "Onufri" Museum consists of 196 icons and liturgical objects that attract more and more visitors from within and outside the country. The "Onufri" Iconographic Museum is located inside the “Dormition of St. Mary” church, within the Berat Castle, since February 27, 1986. The museum is named "Onufri" in honor of the grand master of Albanian iconographic painting of the 16th century.

According to inscriptions, the cathedral was rebuilt in 1797 on the foundations of an older church from the Byzantine period. It represents one of the most typical post-Byzantine architectural styles in the city of Berat.
