Romanian authorities are streamlining the process for obtaining tourist visas and enhancing digital solutions to support the tourism sector, according to Minister of Economy, Digitisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Bogdan Ivan. The announcement was made during the Spring Edition of Romania's Tourism Fair 2025 at Romexpo, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Ivan emphasized efforts to simplify bureaucracy for tourism operators through a new digital application. This tool will enable operators to scan IDs and other documents digitally, eliminating the need for outdated paper reports and Excel files. The system will help track tourist profiles and launch targeted campaigns to attract visitors.

Additionally, discussions are underway to simplify tourist visa procedures, addressing concerns raised by major tourism operators. Diplomatic negotiations have already been held with key countries within and outside the EU to facilitate commercial agreements in the sector.

Ivan assured that all tourism-related decisions will be made in consultation with private sector stakeholders. The ministry is also working on a more flexible Destination Management Organisation (DMO) to enhance Romania’s national tourism brand and support regional tourism initiatives.

The Tourism Fair features 190 exhibitors, with 52% being international participants. Visitors can explore Romania’s top destinations, including Brasov, Bucovina, and Maramures, and take advantage of discounts of up to 50% on travel packages to destinations such as Greece, Spain, and Türkiye.

The event, held across 12,000 square meters, continues to be a key platform for the tourism industry, showcasing new opportunities and partnerships.
