GTA becomes teaching tool in innovative American history class

The University of Tennessee will begin offering an innovative new history course titled “Grand Theft America: U.S. History Since 1980 Through GTA Video Games.”

The course, designed and taught by history professor Tore Olson, will be the first of its kind and examines modern American history through the lens of the game, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The controversial Grand Theft Auto series, which has millions of fans, will serve as the main teaching tool.

By exploring the games’ extensive satirical narratives and meticulously crafted fictional worlds, students will examine topics such as consumerism, political corruption, the American Dream, and urban decay over the past 40 years.
