Moldova prepares for decisive World Cup matches
The Moldovan national football team will play two matches in November as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The “Tricolors” will face Italy on November 13 and Israel on November 16, with both games scheduled to take place at Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău at 21:45, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Head coach Lilian Popescu announced today the list of Moldovan players playing abroad who have been called up for these two official matches.
For the goalkeeper position, Cristian Avram (Araz-Naxçıvan PFK, Azerbaijan) and Andrei Cojuhar (NK Veres Rivne, Ukraine) have been selected.
In defense, Moldova will rely on Oleg Reabciuk (Spartak Moscow, Russia), Artur Craciun (LKS Lodz, Poland), Ioan-Călin Revenco (Tatran Prešov, Slovakia), Vladislav Baboglo (FC Karpaty Lviv, Ukraine), Daniel Dumbravanu (FC Voluntari, Romania), and Mihail Gherasimencov (Cavalry FC, Canada).
The midfield line includes Artur Ionița (US Triestina Calcio 1918, Italy), Vadim Rața (FC Argeș, Romania), Mihail Caimacov (NK Slaven Belupo, Croatia), Ștefan Bodișteanu (FC Botoșani, Romania), Sergiu Perciun (FC Torino, Italy), and Ștefan Bîtca (ZTE FC, Hungary).
In attack, Moldova will count on top scorer Ion Nicolaescu (Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC, Israel), alongside Vitalie Damașcan (HSK Zrinjski, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Virgiliu Postolachi (FC Universitatea Cluj, Romania), and Vlad Răileanu (FC Rukh Lviv, Ukraine).
Moldova competes in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, along with Italy, Norway, Israel, and Estonia. The Tricolors hope to capitalize on home support to achieve positive results in the final matches of the campaign.
