Grimsby Town goalkeeper Kristy Pym admitted he still "hasn’t come to terms" with what happened after his side eliminated Manchester United in a dramatic 12:11 penalty shootout victory in the English League Cup, CE Report quotes BTA.

Pym, a lifelong Manchester United fan, said:

“I still can’t believe it. I’m a United supporter, so I’m half a bit annoyed. But this is one of those nights you play football for — just brilliant.”

Despite feeling he could have done better in the shootout, Pym was proud of making one crucial save that kept his team alive.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he added:

“It was nerve-wracking. As it went on, you never know what will happen. The feeling is incredible and will stay with us forever. The message all week was to believe in ourselves.”

Manager David Artell praised the team, calling it a "great night for the football club, the town, and the community."

“The lads were fantastic. They deserve all the praise and credit. We've worked hard to put this club back on the map. Nights like this don’t happen often, and we’ll enjoy it — but it’s just the beginning.”

Grimsby remains undefeated this season, and with this upset, they’ve made a bold start in the League Cup.
