Amalfi Coast Dry Stone Terraces Become UNESCO Agricultural Heritage

The dry stone terraces of the Amalfi Coast, cultivated with lemon groves, olive groves, and vineyards, have been designated as a World Heritage site for agriculture.

The new site in Italy, along with two others in Japan, was designated by the FAO Scientific Committee, CE Report quotes ANSA.

As of today, there are 102 Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) in 29 countries, with Japan having 17 designations and Italy reaching three, including the olive groves of Assisi and Spoleto and the Soave vineyards, which were recognized in 2018.
