Barcelona teenage star Lamine Yamal signed a new contract until 2031 with the Catalan giants after a spectacular season. The 17-year-old winger is already one of the club's key players and helped them win a domestic treble: LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

"Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement to extend his contract until June 30, 2031," the Catalan club said in a statement. "The renewal of Lamine Yamal's contract is a demonstration of the sustainability of Barça's project. His emergence on the world football stage is like few others, and began with his debut on April 29, 2023, still at the age of 15."

Spanish media reported that the new deal makes him one of Barcelona's highest-paid players. After winning Euro 2024 with Spain last summer, Yamal scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 games in all competitions during a sensational season.

Operating on the right wing and an exceptional dribbler, Yamal's skill and speed contributed greatly to scoring 102 league goals this season as Barca reclaimed the crown from rivals Real Madrid.

Yamal, who came through the club's youth academy, La Masia, and is often compared to Barcelona's all-time legend, Lionel Messi, made his debut in 2023 under Xavi Hernandez at the age of 15.

By the end of the 2023-24 season, he had emerged as the team's main attacking weapon, the bright spot in a poor season where Barca finished empty-handed.

Following his successes at the European Championship, Yamal perfected Flick's attacking style and, by adding more consistency, showed that he has become one of the best players in the world.

Yamal produced two excellent performances in the Champions League semi-finals against Inter, but his team were beaten 7-6 on aggregate and must wait to end their European absence.

"I will keep my promise and bring it (the Champions League trophy) to Barcelona, we will not stop until we get it," Yamal vowed after the match.

Despite his young age, the winger has played over 100 times for Barcelona. Yamal is a candidate to win the best player in the world trophy this year.
