Bulgaria’s top tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, was defeated by Novak Djokovic 2:6, 3:6 in the Miami Masters 1000 semifinal on Friday. The match, which lasted just over an hour, was attended by football legend Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela, CE Report quotes BTA

Dimitrov began strong, winning the opening game, but Djokovic quickly regained control, taking the first set 6:2. In the second set, Djokovic surged to a 3:0 lead and despite Dimitrov’s brief recovery, Djokovic closed out the match 6:3.

Dimitrov earned $332,160 for his semifinal run but will drop 240 ranking points due to not defending last year’s final appearance. This defeat marked his 13th loss in 14 encounters against Djokovic, who will play in his eighth Miami final.
