
Dan Urges Action on Violence, Drugs
President Nicușor Dan stressed Wednesday that Romanian authorities must improve engagement with citizens and take a firmer stance against domestic violence and drug use. Speaking at a ceremony marking 163 years since the founding of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dan emphasized the need for the ministry, prosecutors, and courts to send strong deterrent messages, CE Report quotes AGERPRES
He highlighted domestic violence as a critical issue, citing recent murder cases, and called for swift intervention by the state against threats made by former partners. He also addressed growing drug use among youth, describing it as a global problem that Romania must confront with determination.
Dan underlined the challenging nature of work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At the event, Interior Minister Cătălin Predoiu awarded the president the ministry’s honorary plaque.
