Romanian Ambassador to Represent Country at Trump Inauguration Events
Romania's Ambassador to the U.S., Andrei Muraru, announced on Thursday that he will officially represent Romania at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, January 20, CE Report quotes Agerpres
Muraru clarified that official invitations to the inauguration were issued exclusively to ambassadors accredited in Washington by the U.S. Department of State and the Inaugural Committee. He addressed speculation about invitations extended to others in Romania, stating that no such official invites were sent beyond the diplomatic corps.
The ambassador's schedule includes attending key events such as the MAGA Victory Rally on January 19, the swearing-in ceremony and inaugural speech at the Capitol, the inaugural parade, the Liberty Inaugural Ball, and the National Prayer Service on January 21.
Muraru emphasized that the official invitations ensure access to secure and designated areas for dignitaries. He also noted that while some private invitations or public tickets exist, they do not provide access to protocol areas designated for official guests.
Additionally, Muraru addressed claims by Romanian politician Calin Georgescu, who alleged he had declined an invitation to the inauguration. The ambassador stated that Georgescu was not on the official guest list issued by the U.S. Department of State or the Inaugural Committee.
"This is a historic moment for American democracy, and it is an honor to represent Romania," Muraru said.
