Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Poland Radosław Sikorski met in Warsaw with the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ed Miliband.

The Polish-UK consultations focused on the strategic partnership between Poland and the United Kingdom and multidimensional political cooperation, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland's official website.

The heads of diplomacy emphasised that Poland and the United Kingdom are linked by a strategic partnership and a multidimensional political cooperation. This translates into shared interests in security, defence, and the economy. Minister Sikorski noted that the UK defence industry is involved in the modernisation of the Polish armed forces and reassured his interlocutor of the willingness to further pursue cooperation in this area, including through the Narew and Miecznik programmes, as well as the production of ammunition, including as a result of collaboration between BAE Systems and PGZ.

Warsaw and London unequivocally support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two sides agreed that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine should end as soon as possible. Poland and the United Kingdom also consistently support maintaining international pressure on Russia and providing robust assistance for Kyiv until the end of the war. In this context, the heads of diplomacy of Poland and the UK discussed the upcoming international exercises of the Coalition of the Willing with the participation of British troops, to be hosted by Poland.

"Ukraine can continue to count on political, military, financial and humanitarian support, which is particularly important in the face of the approaching winter and Russia’s brutal attacks on civilian targets. A lasting and just peace must guarantee respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensure that Russia is held to account," said Minister Radosław Sikorski.

"We will closely coordinate our efforts to ensure Europe’s security, in particular within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing and the E5 Group, " underlined Poland’s top diplomat.

After the bilateral meeting, the ministers, together with the heads of diplomacy of Norway and Germany, took part in the panel “The Return of Power Politics: Europe Between War and Rivalry”, organised as part of the Warsaw Security Forum.
