US, China leaders signal closer cooperation at White House dinner

U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping yesterday emphasized the need for continued cooperation between the United States and China at a state dinner at the White House.

Xi stressed that the United States and China, as major powers in a changing world, must act responsibly, CE Report quotes STA.

Trump, meanwhile, said that he and Xi had never gotten along better.

Trump described the Chinese president and his wife as “truly exceptional, incredible people” and presented them with a statue of a bald eagle, the official national symbol of the United States.

Xi, who has been on a three-day official visit to the United States since Wednesday, thanked Trump and his wife, Melania, for their sincere hospitality and said the talks had brought the two sides closer on a range of issues and established new directions for U.S.-China relations.

The state dinner was also attended by the heads of major U.S. technology companies.
