Bosnia's Novo Sarajevo marks Municipality Day
On the occasion of Novo Sarajevo Municipality Day, a ceremonial session of the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council was held.
It was attended by representatives of all levels of government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, international organizations, public, cultural and sports life, as well as numerous citizens, CE Report quotes FENA.
The ceremonial session provided an opportunity to recognize individuals and groups whose work, achievements and social engagement have made a special contribution to the development of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality and the improvement of the quality of life in the local community.
The attendees were addressed by the Chairman of the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council, Edison Pavlović, and the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality, Benjamina Karić, who highlighted in their speeches the importance of unity, local community development and preserving the values on which Novo Sarajevo is built.
Mayor Benjamina Karić stated that Novo Sarajevo remains a municipality open to all generations, dedicated to the development of infrastructure, education, culture and sports, and to creating a better quality of life for citizens.
“Novo Sarajevo is a community of people who every day, through their work, humanity, knowledge and solidarity, demonstrate the strength and potential of this municipality. It is our obligation to continue building a modern, organized and open Novo Sarajevo, while also preserving the culture of remembrance and the values on which Bosnia and Herzegovina was built. Tonight, we pay tribute to the people whose deeds confirm that Novo Sarajevo is a place of success, unity and perspective,” Mayor Karić said.
Chairman Edison Pavlović emphasized the significance of Municipality Day as an opportunity to jointly review achieved results and future goals.
“Novo Sarajevo Municipality Day is not just a date we celebrate, but a reminder of the responsibility we have toward our citizens and future generations. We are proud of the people whose work represents Novo Sarajevo in the best possible light, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world. Their achievements confirm that through joint efforts we can build an even stronger, more successful and more humane community,” Pavlović said.
As part of the ceremony, municipal awards and certificates of appreciation were presented to deserving individuals and groups from the fields of sports, culture, education, humanitarian work and social engagement.
The Gold Plaque of Novo Sarajevo Municipality was awarded to Edin Džeko, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful athletes and long-time captain of the national football team, while the Silver Plaque was awarded to Ramiz Bejić for his contribution to the defense of Sarajevo and preserving the history of the city’s defense.
Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to deserving individuals for their selfless dedication, work, contribution and for representing Novo Sarajevo Municipality in the best possible light.
The ceremonial session was enriched by an extensive artistic program featuring performances by the SA Sinfonietta string quartet, Lejla Jusić, Mona Muratović, Vedran Vujica, Mustafa Čizmić Čizma and the PRO MUSICA ensemble, according to a statement from the Information, Public Relations and Protocol Affairs Department of Novo Sarajevo Municipality.
