Serbia urges European Parliament to condemn Thompson concerts in Croatia

Serbia’s Speaker of Parliament Ana Brnabić has called on political groups in the European Parliament (EP) to react to concerts by Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson, which she described as “openly held neo-Nazi celebrations in Croatia.”

“How is it possible that no one in the European Union, not a single political group in the European Parliament, has ever reacted to or condemned openly held neo-Nazi celebrations in Croatia, regularly attended by tens of thousands of people?” Brnabić said, naming several political groups, including the Greens, the European People’s Party (EPP), Renew Europe and others.

She added that such events, according to her, are openly supported by the government in Zagreb, while participants sing and glorify concentration camps in which hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews and Roma were killed in monstrous ways, including children, CE Report quotes FENA.

“How is this allowed in the EU? You remain silent about the open glorification of mass murders in the Jasenovac concentration camp, while at the same time preaching about the rule of law and European values. While such fascism rages in Croatia, you focus on criticising Serbia over the law on REM (the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media) and judicial laws,” Brnabić said.
