Albania receives U.S.-made Javelin missile systems
Albania has received an initial shipment of U.S.-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems, strengthening the country’s defence capabilities and interoperability with NATO, Defence Minister Pirro Vengu said on Wednesday.
Speaking during a visit to an Albanian Armed Forces base, where the first shipment of the systems was received, Defence Minister said an initial batch of Javelin launch systems and associated missiles has now been delivered.
He added that the shipment is part of a planned process, with a second phase of deliveries expected in 2026, CE Report quotes ATA.
Vengu said the bilateral cooperation with the United States also covers Kosovo and is strategically important for regional security. The programme includes training of personnel and upgrades to infrastructure to support the deployment and operation of the systems.
He said the delivery fulfils a long-standing request that is now being implemented through the provision of modern, high-standard anti-tank equipment.
As reported by CE Report, Albania's Elisa Spiropali lauded Tetovo students for preserving traditions.
