EU lifts all punitive measures on Kosovo
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani announced that at the end of the Summit between the European Union and the Western Balkans held yesterday in Brussels and after intensive discussions, there was made the decision to lift all punitive measures on Kosovo.
Osmani stated that most of the measures will be lifted today, while the rest will be lifted at the end of January, CE Report quotes ATA.
In the video message published by Osmani on social networks, Prime Minister Edi Rama also appears, praising her role in this process.
Rama emphasized in his message:
“This woman has been extraordinary today. She has managed to release all the funds. And it is 100% her merit”.
President Osmani thanked PM Rama and Albania for their support.
The lifting of the measures is expected to bring the release of European funds and the restoration of suspended projects, directly affecting key sectors of Kosovo’s economic and institutional development.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated the day before that, “We are programming 216 million Euros in financial assistance and we intend to release 205 million euros early next year.”
As reported by CE Report, the European Parliament backed the Slovenian-led initiative.
