EU highlights challenges, praises progress in North Macedonia’s reforms
President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received on Tuesday a visit by Head of the European Union Delegation in the country, Ambassador Michalis Rokas, who handed over the 2025 European Commission Progress Report.
Ambassador Rokas noted the main challenges the country faces, as well as expected changes, Siljanovska Davkova's Office said in a press release, CE Report quotes MIA.
Interlocutors noted lack of progress in the rule of law, the fight against corruption and crime, as well as in the judiciary, highlighting the need for maximum efforts for reforms in these areas.
"Interlocutors welcomed positive results within the Growth Plan, the public administration reform, as well as success in Clusters 3, 4, 5 and 6. Siljanovska Davkova had remarks on some of the findings in the Report that refer to Cluster 1. She also pointed to the need for the evaluation to be based on the Copenhagen Criteria, and not on the political conditions we have been facing for two decades," reads the press release.
For Ambassador Rokas, it adds, now is the best moment for bold and decisive steps in reforms, due to the openly expressed will of EU leaders to support and assist the Macedonian European integration.
