Epstein-linked sex scandal puts Prince Andrew’s Dukedom at risk
Prince Andrew, disgraced over his involvement in the sex scandal linked to deceased American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, now risks losing his title of Duke of York after the latest embarrassing revelations surrounding the case, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Over the weekend, new details emerged regarding the ties between King Charles III’s brother and the financier who died by suicide in prison.
Among the most damning evidence is an email, found among files made public in the U.S., exchanged between Andrew and Epstein in February 2011 — three months after December 2010, the date the prince had previously claimed marked the end of his relationship with Epstein.
Worse still, in the message under scrutiny, the royal allegedly wrote: "We are in this together," offering support to Epstein, who was at the center of a sex trafficking ring involving many underage victims.
As British tabloids have noted, Prince Andrew could now face further consequences, after having already been stripped of his military titles and all official royal duties. One of the next possible steps is to remove his Duke of York title, which would require an act of Parliament.
Labour MP for York, Rachael Maskell, is actively pursuing this, stating that her city can no longer be associated with “the black sheep of the Windsor family.”
"The tragedy is that the victims suffer every day, and each new revelation about this horrific network of abuse and those connected to Epstein only deepens their pain," Maskell said.
A YouGov poll conducted this summer found that two-thirds of Britons support stripping Andrew of his remaining titles.
