Greece Proposes Investigative Committee for OPEKEPE
The New Democracy Parliamentary Group, following Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s decision, has proposed the formation of an investigative committee for OPEKEPE, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis announced Monday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
The committee will examine all aspects of the subsidy body’s operations, focusing on uncovering the truth and strengthening the subsidy system, Marinakis said, emphasizing that the process will be free from political bias.
OPEKEPE manages annual subsidies of €2.5 billion distributed to 645,000 producers. The committee will have full authority to investigate all developments related to the organization’s operations since 1998. Its goal is to identify responsibilities based on facts rather than political interests.
