Three prominent figures—Emil Ceban, rector of Moldova’s medical university; Olympic silver medalist Anastasia Nichita; and former footballer Maxim Potarniche—will run on the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) list in the upcoming parliamentary elections on September 28, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

PAS leader Igor Grosu announced their candidacies, highlighting their commitment to Moldova’s European integration. “It’s a historic moment for our country, and these individuals have chosen to step up for the greater good,” Grosu said.

Emil Ceban, rector of Nicolae Testemitanu University, vowed to modernize Moldova’s medical education and healthcare system, aligning them with EU standards, improving infrastructure, and reducing the exodus of young specialists.

Wrestling champion Anastasia Nichita spoke emotionally about her journey from rural Moldova to Olympic podiums, stressing the need to invest in sports infrastructure and support for athletes. “I have no political experience, but I know firsthand what our sportspeople need,” she said.

Former footballer Maxim Potarniche expressed frustration with political corruption and said he is joining politics to push for a European Moldova built on merit and honesty.

Other notable names on the PAS list include conductor Nicolae Botgros, journalist Constantin Cheianu, and former ministers Nicu Popescu and Marcel Spatari.
