Moldova Backs Ukraine’s Sovereignty
The Moldovan parliament has adopted a Declaration expressing unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized 1991 borders, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The document strongly condemns Russia’s aggression, beginning with the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, the military intervention in eastern Ukraine, and the full-scale invasion launched on February 24, 2022.
Moldova emphasized Ukraine’s sovereign right to choose its internal and foreign policies and declared that it would never recognize any illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia.
The Declaration also denounced Kremlin propaganda justifying the war with false claims about the legitimacy of Ukraine’s leadership, calling such narratives “gross distortions” about a democratic European state.
Parliament called on legislatures worldwide to adopt similar positions in support of Ukraine and urged Moldovan citizens to remain united, vigilant, and committed to a European future grounded in peace and democracy.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed that the Declaration is Moldova’s clear stance alongside the Ukrainian people, who “are paying the highest price for their freedom—and for ours.”
