Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with UniCredit Group CEO Andrea Orcel and Alpha Bank CEO Vassilis Psaltis on Monday at the Maximos Mansion to discuss the strengthening partnership between the two banks, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

Mitsotakis praised UniCredit’s increased investment in Alpha Bank, calling it a move that reflects confidence in Greece’s economic progress. He emphasized that cross-border cooperation should benefit all involved parties and highlighted the potential of leveraging UniCredit’s expertise to further fuel Greek economic growth.

Orcel noted the strong performance of the partnership and said they are working to align social programs with business goals. Psaltis added that this is the first major banking cooperation of its kind in Greece since the financial crisis and a clear signal of trust in the country’s future.

Government sources revealed that Alpha Bank is preparing a housing policy proposal and prioritizing financial inclusion, especially in underserved regions.

Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis also attended the meeting.
