
Moldova Marks 35 Years of Sovereignty
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has invited citizens to a commemorative event on June 23, marking 35 years since the adoption of Moldova's Declaration of Sovereignty. The gathering will take place at 19:00 near the monument to Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici on Alexei Mateevici Street in Chisinau, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
"This was the first decisive step towards our independence," Grosu said, encouraging people to wear national attire and bring a tricolor as a symbol of unity.
He also urged Moldovans abroad to symbolically join the March of Sovereignty, initiated by President Maia Sandu, to show unity in upholding the values of freedom, democracy, and national self-determination.
Adopted on June 23, 1990, the Declaration of Sovereignty laid the foundation for Moldova’s independence, officially declared on August 27, 1991.
