Slovenia simplifies life for non-EU nationals
Non-EU nationals looking to work or study in Slovenia often have trouble navigating bureaucracy, which is why the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants has launched a new info point in Ljubljana called Infotujci where they will be guided through the maze of paperwork.
With the help of interpreters, staff will help them with residence permits, driving licences and marriage certificates, and provide information about healthcare, kindergarten and school enrolment, and Slovenian classes, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.
"For third-country nationals, filling out forms and sorting out other paperwork is a considerable challenge due to language barriers," said Katarina Štrukelj, the head of the integration office.
For employment-related queries, the foreigners will be directed to the special info point for foreigners that the Employment Service launched last year.
The aim is not only to help foreigners but also to ease the burden on other institutions by making sure the paperwork is correctly filled out.
The info point is primarily aimed at students and workers, less so at asylum seekers.
"Asylum seekers have support in asylum centres, and refugees are assigned an integration adviser," said Štrukelj.
Located on Tržaška Street 21 in the Vič borough, the info point will be open Mondays and Fridays between 9am and noon, and Wednesdays from 2pm to 5pm.
If needed, additional info points will be set up in other cities.
The current Infotujci website, which has been around for years with the same mission, will be upgraded with new information in due course.
