Trump: No Enrichment for Iran

Politics

President Donald Trump declared Monday that the U.S. will not permit Iran to enrich uranium under any potential nuclear agreement, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

"The AUTOPEN should have stopped Iran a long time ago from 'enriching.' Under our potential Agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

His statement followed media reports suggesting a U.S. proposal presented to Iran might allow limited low-level enrichment for a time. According to Axios, the draft deal would restrict enrichment to civilian use, halt centrifuge R&D, and establish a regional compliance consortium. It would also ban new enrichment sites and require dismantling key nuclear infrastructure.

The latest round of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks took place May 23 in Rome, mediated by Oman. Trump, who withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, is pushing for a stricter agreement to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
