
Mitsotakis Highlights Labour Reforms
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis outlined 15 key labour policy achievements and goals in a TikTok post on Thursday. He highlighted a 35% rise in the minimum wage, a 17-year low in unemployment, the creation of 500,000 jobs, and significant reductions in unemployment among women (10.8%) and youth (nearly 20%), CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Mitsotakis also emphasized the rollout of the digital labour card for 1.5 million workers, a 60% rise in declared overtime in some sectors, and expanded family leave policies, including extended maternity leave and new paternity rights.
Other measures included protections against workplace harassment, remote work regulations, a 5.4% cut in social security contributions, and tax incentives for those relocating to Greece. Looking ahead, the government aims for a €950 minimum wage, €1,500 average wage, and full market adoption of the digital labour card by 2027.
“We’re improving workers’ lives every day,” Mitsotakis said, adding that more reforms are on the way.
