Duda Highlights Eurocorps' Role in European Security

Politics

President Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, visited Strasbourg on Wednesday to meet with soldiers and civilian personnel at the Eurocorps Command. Duda emphasized that Russia currently poses the biggest threat in Europe and reiterated NATO and EU support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, CE Report quotes PAP

Duda highlighted that Eurocorps is not meant to compete with NATO or the EU, but to create synergy, especially as the US pushes Europe to take a more active role in its own security. He noted that the importance of Eurocorps will likely grow, as Europe faces new security challenges.

He also stressed Eurocorps' critical role in Poland's security policy, particularly in the face of Russian imperialism and declining security, especially along the eastern borders of NATO and the EU.

Eurocorps, established in 1992 by France and Germany, is a multinational rapid response force. It includes Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland, which joined in January 2022. The force is tasked with crisis, humanitarian, rescue, and peace-keeping missions for NATO and the EU.
