Gherasimov highlighted that the chapter’s policies would foster digitization, improve audiovisual services, and strengthen cybersecurity. These efforts aim to create a more modern, connected, and informed society.

Moldova has made significant progress in aligning with EU digital and communications laws, including the European Electronic Communications Code and the Roaming Regulation, which will eliminate roaming charges within the EU. Additionally, Moldova has adopted the NIS 2 Directive to bolster national cybersecurity and the Open Data Directive to improve public data access.

The next step is to develop Moldova’s negotiation position on this chapter and officially launch accession talks. Moldova aims to join the EU by 2030.
