
Greece, Cyprus, and Israel Strengthen Regional Cooperation
Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis emphasized the importance of regional cooperation for security and resilience in times of instability following a trilateral meeting with his Cypriot and Israeli counterparts in Athens on Thursday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Gerapetritis reiterated Greece's commitment to highlighting the Cyprus issue on the UN agenda, ahead of a key UN meeting on March 17-18. He reaffirmed Greece's support for a just and viable solution based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation, as outlined by UN resolutions.
He also stressed the importance of reactivating the trilateral framework with U.S. participation ("3+1") and the trilateral cooperation’s permanent secretariat in Nicosia. The proposal was well received by U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio during discussions in Washington.
The ministers discussed strengthening collaboration in trade, economy, marine environment protection, civil protection, and cybersecurity. Special emphasis was placed on energy cooperation and interconnectivity, which Gerapetritis said are encouraged by international law.
