Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Thursday that Moscow agrees with proposals to end hostilities in Ukraine but emphasized that a ceasefire must lead to long-term peace and address the root causes of the conflict, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at a joint press conference with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow, Putin stated that Russia supports resolving the war through peaceful means.

Regarding the situation in Russia’s border region of Kursk, where Ukraine launched an incursion last August, Putin claimed that Russian forces now have full control and that Ukrainian troops in the area are "completely isolated."

He acknowledged that discussions are still needed on key issues and thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for his attention to the conflict’s resolution.
