Moldovan President Maia Sandu: Europe Must Stand United for Lasting Peace

During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Moldovan President Maia Sandu emphasized that only collective efforts can ensure a just and lasting peace in Europe. "I fully agree with President Macron: the innocence of the last 30 years has ended," she stated, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Sandu underscored Moldova’s active role in supporting Ukraine, maintaining stability along its 1,200 km border, providing refuge to Ukrainians, and resisting Russian destabilization efforts. She warned that Russia aims not only to weaken but to control Moldova and use it against Ukraine.

"Moscow seeks to exploit our vulnerabilities, undermine our democracy, and turn our territory into a launchpad for future aggression," Sandu said. She stressed that Ukraine’s security is directly linked to Moldova’s and Europe’s peace. "An unstable peace will prolong the threat, endangering democracy, freedom, and solidarity across Europe. Supporting Ukraine is about securing all of Europe," she concluded.

Meanwhile, military leaders and NATO representatives from 30 countries are meeting in Paris today to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. The talks align with broader efforts to strengthen Europe’s defense and reduce reliance on the US.
