Greece Strengthens Cancer Fight with New Strategies

Greece remains proactive in the battle against cancer, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis stated at the Fifth Annual Greece Cancer Summit in Athens, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Georgiadis highlighted key advancements made over the past 15 months, including the implementation of a cancer patient registry, improvements in biomarker financing, and the development of treatment protocols. Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of Greece’s national cancer strategy, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expected to convene relevant bodies for discussions later this year.

New treatments are extending patient survival and quality of life, though their cost remains a challenge. "We are doing everything possible to ensure Greek patients have timely access to these therapies," Georgiadis said, noting significant progress in recent years.
