Moldova’s Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has responded to Russia’s concerns over the accreditation of its new ambassador in Chisinau, emphasizing its strict adherence to the 1961 Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The statement follows the summoning of Moldova’s Ambassador to Russia, Lilian Darii, by the Russian Foreign Ministry, seeking explanations for the delay in accepting the credentials of the newly appointed Russian envoy.

MAE clarified that scheduling accreditation ceremonies is solely the prerogative of the host country, based on diplomatic customs and institutional agendas. Moldova rejected any claims of violating the Vienna Convention and reaffirmed its commitment to international diplomatic norms.

During his meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Darii was handed a copy of the Vienna Convention along with a verbal note.
